The Monarch Breeding & Research Center welcomes Girl Scouts from around the world for Destination Camp.

Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast is excited to welcome Girl Scouts visiting us through Beaches to Mountains! Beaches to Mountains is part of the Girl Scout Destinations program. Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors Girl Scouts apply to travel to a new area and make new Girl Scout friends on their adventure. This summer we have Girl Scouts traveling from Connecticut, Illinois, Florida, South Carolina, & Nebraska! For some, this will be the furthest they have traveled away from home.

Lillian, Troop 2385, Traveling From Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois

Meet Lillian, a dedicated Girl Scout of 11 years from Troop 2385 in Northern Illinois. She has embraced the spirit of adventure through her Girl Scout journey. Her enthusiasm for Girl Scout destination trips has taken her on unforgettable experiences, with her favorite being the boundary waters canoe trip. Camp Fury in Arizona also left a lasting impression on her. Her worldly explorations led her to Paris, France, where she ventured beyond her comfort zone. Girl Scouting has enriched her life in countless ways, from boosting her confidence to imparting essential survival skills in the wilderness. This remarkable journey has solidified Lillian’s passion for environmental science, particularly the study of bugs and their impact on the environment. Her love for the outdoors and firsthand experiences have nurtured this dream. One unique aspect of Lillian is her fascination with bugs and other unusual creatures; she can effortlessly share fascinating facts about them. Additionally, she cherishes her stuffed animal worm named William, who is her constant companion on various adventures. Lillian’s journey as a Girl Scout has shaped her aspirations and ignited her love for the natural world, fueling her desire to make a positive impact as an environmental scientist in the future.

Emma, Troop 7109, Traveling From Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains

Meet Emma, a spirited member of Troop 7109 within the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains, she proudly holds ten years of Girl Scout experience under her belt. Among her favorite Girl Scout programs, she cherishes the opportunities for community service and the joy of attending various camps. Emma’s sense of adventure has taken her as far as the beautiful Bahamas. Through Girl Scouting, she acquired a valuable skill that she may not have learned otherwise – the art of building a campfire and cooking over it, fostering her love for outdoor cooking. Interacting with diverse individuals during her Girl Scout journey has greatly influenced her future aspirations. As a unique trait, Emma’s playful and spirited nature shines through, as she loves being silly and acting crazy, while also being a passionate soccer enthusiast. This summer, she eagerly anticipates taking up surfing lessons, ready to embrace new challenges and adventures. Emma’s decision to join the Beaches to Mountains trip was driven by her profound love for the beach, making it her favorite place to be. Savannah, Traveling From Girl Scouts of Spirit of Nebraska (Independent)

Meet Savannah, a vibrant member of Girl Scouts of Spirit of Nebraska, she boasts an impressive nine-year journey in the Girl Scouts. Among her cherished experiences, the Girl Scout Advisory Group (GSAG) stands out as one of her favorite programs. Florida, is the farthest she has ventured. Through Girl Scouting, Savannah honed her skills in adventure courses, learning valuable lessons in resilience and courage. Her thrilling destination trip to Florida and Georgia last year sparked a keen interest in marine biology, shaping her aspirations for the future. This summer, she eagerly looks forward to reuniting with a friend she met during her destination trip from Connecticut. A unique aspect of Savannah’s identity is her passion for both wrestling and dancing, demonstrating her versatile talents. She thrives on trying new things and exploring unfamiliar territories, making her decision to join the Beaches to Mountains trip a natural fit. With a heart for adventure and a love for discovering new places, Savannah continues to embrace the spirit of exploration through her Girl Scout journey.
