Dear GSCCC Community,
Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast is grieving a community tragedy that happened last night, on November 7, in Thousand Oaks, CA involving a mass shooting at Borderline Bar and Grill, claiming 12 lives. During this tragedy, our hearts go out to all of the victims impacted by this heart wrenching tragedy.
Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast rallies around the community to support all involved and impacted. GSCCC would like to thank the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department for their dedication and responsiveness during this time of need. Unfortunately, Sargent Ron Helus, a 29-year veteran lost his life serving those in need, a true hero. GSCCC also wants to thank Los Robles Hospital for helping all of the victims and their families. We are with you Thousand Oaks and all of those affected by this tragedy.
Despite all our best efforts at spreading compassion and understanding, violence and hatred continue to affect our world, our country, and our communities. And in a world with a 24/7 news cycle, it’s hard for anyone—even children—to avoid hearing about frightening things when they do occur.
