Girl Scouts is the #1 girl-led organization instilling girls with the confidence and skills they need to become the leaders of tomorrow. In our safe and supportive environments, she’ll have the opportunity to try new things and get out of her comfort zone like never before. By choosing her own adventure and learning by doing, each girl is able to take the reins and customize her own girl-led experience to fit her wildest imagination! Whether she wants to create change within her community, build a robot, or go camping with new friends, in Girl Scouts we grow together.
As we prepare every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader) for a lifetime of leadership, we inspire a lifestyle filled with adventure and awe. Here are the five reasons to get started on your Girl Scout journey today (as if you needed any more)!

1. Get out of your comfort zone.
Studies show that girls thrive and are more likely to try new things in all-girl environments. With encouragement from peers and adults that support her, every girl will have the opportunity to chase what she is passionate or curious about without hesitation! Outgoing and shy girls alike will develop a strong sense of self, seek challenges, and turn that “Can I?” into an “I will!” attitude.
2. Get outdoors.
From the very start of our organization, Girl Scouts have hit the trails blazing with a natural enthusiasm for outdoor exploration. Endless opportunities to hike, camp, backpack, nature watch, or try a new outdoor sport will have her unplugging from electronics and headed to the great outdoors!
3. Create change.
Together, we teach Girl Scouts that anything is possible. Whether it be making a difference in their communities or creating change on a global scale, girls learn to think about their place in the world as they work toward the greater good. Girl Scouts can accomplish anything from beautifying local parks to changing national legislation, and they will never forget they have the power to make the world a better place for both themselves and others.
4. Crack a code.
It’s no secret that the future is STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math)! While these typically male-dominated fields may seem a bit daunting in class or in after-school programs, she will have a wide variety of hands-on opportunities to learn and explore anything that sparks interest! Build a robot, study the stars, conduct an experiment, or code a computer – she can do anything she sets her mind to!
5. Join a global community.
Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout. When you join, you become part of a millions-strong network of women who are making their mark on the world. We are in government, in science labs, in the media, in competitive sports, and together we are all making an impact! Together, we inspire and support one another as we show the world that girls can truly do anything.
Girl Scouts is a tradition for a reason. For more than a century, girls have been coming together in all of their unstoppable, inherent power and unique leadership ability to try new things, overcome challenges, and have the time of their lives.
