To kick off the 2020 Girl Scout Cookie Season, we reached out to a few of our top-selling Girl Scouts from the 2019 program. These girls all sold 1,500 or more boxes throughout last year’s cookie season, and were eager to share some of their favorite selling tips, goals for the new year, and more! You may even notice a few familiar faces from our 2019 Top Sellers! Try out this Q&A with your Girl Scout to get her thinking about her goals for this season!
Catalina Saenz
Our first top seller of the week is Catalina from Troop 35260! A fourth-grader from Salinas, CA, Catalina sold 2,544 boxes last year.
Q: How long have you been a Girl Scout?
A: This is my fifth year being a Girl Scout!
Q: What are your top 3 strategies when it comes to selling cookies?
A: My top 3 strategies are to smile, have a sense of humor, and be yourself!
Q: What is your all-time favorite Girl Scout cookie?
A: I love Thin Mints!
Q: What have you learned from selling cookies?
A: I have learned that selling is fun but it’s also hard work. It’s important to take inventory and to not let your parents do everything for you.
Q: How does it feel when you make a cookie sale?
A: When I make a cookie sale it feels GREAT!
Q: What are your goals for the upcoming cookie season?
A: My goals for this year are to save enough to go to Disneyland.
Q: What advice do you have for other girls who want to sell more this season?
A: Go for it and do your best!
Q: What is the most fun thing about selling cookies?
A: The most fun part about selling cookies is getting to do credit card transactions and meeting new people who have Girl Scout stories.
Layla Owen
Next up we have Troop 40023’s Layla Owen, a sixth-grader from Oceano who sold 1,659 boxes during the 2019 season! Layla was also a Top Seller for the 2018 Cookie Program.
Q: How long have you been a Girl Scout?
A: I’ve been a Girl Scout for eight years.
Q: What are your top 3 strategies when it comes to selling cookies?
A: My top 3 strategies are to always take extra cookies with you when you deliver, sell in highly populated areas, and to always have cookies with you even when going to and from school.
Q: What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie?
A: My favorite is Peanut Butter Patties!
Q: What have you learned from selling cookies?
A: I’ve learned how to use money in different ways, money management, and how to speak more clearly to customers and people in general.
Q: How does it feel when you make a cookie sale?
A: I’m always happy when I make a sale because it brings me closer to reaching my goal.
Q: What are your goals for the upcoming cookie season?
A: This year I want to sell a minimum of 1,000 boxes, then up to 2,500.
Q: What advice do you have for other girls who want to sell more this season?
A: My advice would be that once you get to your goal, go further than that by setting another goal and then reach that one.
Q: What is the most fun thing about selling cookies?
A: The most fun thing about selling cookies is working at cookie booths with my troop and talking to customers!
Ella Webb
You may remember Ella from our 2018 Top Seller list! This 7th grader from Troop 15506 in Scotts Valley sold 2,600 boxes during the 2019 Cookie Program.
Q: How long have you been a Girl Scout?
A: I’ve been a Girl Scout for four years.
Q: What are your top 3 strategies when it comes to selling cookies?
A: My top 3 strategies for selling cookies is to speak up, upsell, and be respectful!
Q: What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie?
A: My favorite is definitely Thin Mints.
Q: What have you learned from selling cookies?
A: I have learned to speak up when I want to accomplish something.
Q: How does it feel when you make a cookie sale?
A: I feel a sense of pride with every sale!
Q: What are your goals for the upcoming cookie season?
A: My goals for the upcoming season are to have a good time!
Q: What advice do you have for other girls who want to sell more this season?
A: Doing a Walkabout is a good way to sell more cookies while getting to meet people in your community.

A: The most fun part about selling cookies is setting up the display and restocking!
Isabella Garcia
Isabella is a 7th grader from Oxnard and an active member of Troop 65252. During the 2019 Cookie Program, she sold a total of 2,019 boxes!
Q: How long have you been a Girl Scout?
A: I have been a Girl Scout for seven years.
Q: What are your top 3 strategies when it comes to selling cookies?
A: My top 3 strategies for selling cookies is to ask everyone you see, booth at family and friends’ businesses, and repeat customers.
Q: What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie?
A: My favorite Girl Scout cookies are the Caramel deLites and the gluten-free Caramel Chocolate Chip.
Q: How does it feel when you make a cookie sale?
A: When I make a cookie sale it makes me happy because it helps me reach my goal and I know that people are supporting my troop and I.
Q: What are your goals for the upcoming cookie season?
A: My goal for this season is to sell 2,500 boxes of cookies and the prize is an overnight trip to Disneyland!
Q: What advice do you have for other girls who want to sell more this season?
A: My advice to other girls is to never give up, sell every weekend, sell everywhere you go, and never be shy!

A: The most fun thing about selling cookies is that you get cool rewards and the opportunity to meet new people.
Talula Garcia
Talulua from Troop 10005 is a fifth-grader from Aptos. Talula sold a total of 2,617 boxes last year!

A: I have been a Girl Scout for three years.
Q: What are your top 3 strategies when it comes to selling cookies?
A: My top 3 strategies for selling cookies are to smile, be polite, and give my best effort.
Q: What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie?
A: My favorite cookie is S’mores!

A: One thing I’ve learned from selling cookies is how to handle money.

Bella Moya
Last but not least is Troop 40704’s Bella Moya from Creston. This fifth grade Girl Scout sold 2,592 cookie boxes in 2018!

A: This is my fifth year in Girl Scouts.
Q: What are your top 3 strategies when it comes to selling cookies?
A: Three strategies I have when it comes to selling cookies are being polite, selling Care to Share donations, and decorating the cookie booth.

A: My favorite cookies are Peanut Butter Patties and Caramel deLites.

A: One thing I learned from selling Girl Scout cookies is money management skills.
